2023 Ford Expedition in Amsterdam, NY
The Ford Expedition is the largest SUV in the Ford lineup, and it's one of the most versatile trucks on the market. For the 2023 model year, the Expedition gains Trail 1-Pedal Drive on the Timberline model, and the larger Max edition is now available for all trim levels. Here's a closer look at the 2023 Ford Expedition.
Trim Levels
The entry-level Expedition XL has 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, and fog lights. A step up to the XLT adds 20-inch wheels, while the Limited has a hands-free liftgate, 20-inch wheels, and a panoramic sunroof. The Timberline is the off-road-ready model and comes with a hands-free liftgate, a heavy-duty radiator, all-terrain tires, and an off-road-tuned suspension. A bump up to the King Ranch gets you a two-tone exterior paint scheme, 22-inch wheels, and power-deployable running boards. The Platinum model is the top-level Expedition. It has an adaptive suspension and roof rails with cross bars. The Stealth Package can be added to any Expedition. This suite of features comes with 22-inch black wheels, dark exterior trim elements, a sport suspension, and power running boards.
Engine
The base engine for the Expedition is a 3.5-liter turbo V-6 that puts out 375 horsepower and gets 470 pound-feet of torque. It works with a 10-speed automatic transmission and comes with rear-wheel drive; all-wheel drive is optional. The Timberline and Platinum models come with an upgraded V-6 engine with 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
With the upgraded V-6 engine, the Timberline can zip from zero to 60 mph in just 5.1 seconds, and when equipped with the Stealth package, it can get there in under five seconds. When equipped, this SUV has the power to tow up to 9,300 pounds, and the Max version can tow up to 9,000 pounds.
Interior
There's room for up to eight in the Expedition's standard configuration, but you can fit nine with the optional front bench seat. It comes standard with features such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. The XLT adds tri-zone automatic climate control, and the Limited has leather upholstery and heated second-row seats. The Platinum model adds heated and ventilated front seats and wood and leather interior trim elements. The Expedition's technology features include a 15.5-inch touch screen at the King Ranch trim level and above; these high-end models also come with a 22-speaker stereo system. A Wi-Fi hotspot comes standard in all models, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and several USB ports.
Safety Features
Every 2023 Expedition comes with Ford's Co-Pilot360 suite of driver aids. This group of features includes a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, forward collision warning with automatic braking, and automatic high-beam headlights. Adaptive cruise control comes with the Limited model, along with front parking sensors, and the King Ranch adds a 360-degree surround-view camera and a parking assist system. Step up to the Platinum for Ford's BlueCruise semi-automated driving system with hands-free driving on select highways.
